The organisation consists of 49 branches – far more than any other organisation. The organisation is a single reporting unit as it was granted a section 245 certificate in 2021.
The organisation is divided into Divisions in each state, and further divided into Branches. The organisation, its Divisions and Branches are also divided into Sections.
The organisation is governed by a National Council and a National Executive and by State Divisions and Branches.
Elections across the organisation are conducted every 1, 2 and 4 years. These elections are conducted by the Australian Electoral Commission.
