Registered organisations and branches must report certain information about each loan, grant and donation they made that exceeds $1,000 within 90 days of the end of the financial year.
On this page:
You must include loans exceeding $1,000 even if they're made to:
- a state association
- another branch within the organisation
- an officer.
Report donations that are either cash or in-kind.
How to report
Download and fill out our loans, grants and donations statement template (doc).
Have an officer of the relevant organisation or branch sign the statement.
Send the completed statement to [email protected].
The statement must include the:
- amount
- purpose
- security (if it is a loan)
- name and address of the person it was made to
- arrangements for repaying (if it is a loan).
If the loan was made to relieve a member (or dependent) of the organisation or branch from severe financial hardship, the statement doesn't need to include the:
- name and address of the person it was made to
- arrangements for repaying (if it is a loan).
When to lodge your statement
We encourage you to lodge a statement even if you have no loans, grants and donations to report for the financial year.
This is a different timeframe to when your financial report is required to be lodged.
Considerations when preparing your financial report
When reviewing your financial report, the Commission will confirm the figures in the financial report match the disclosures made in the statement. We will raise any inconsistencies with the organisation or branch. This may result in lodging an amended statement.
Failure to lodge
Failure to lodge a loans, grants or donations statement or a statement that's false or misleading can attract civil penalties under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act 2009.
Inspect a previous statement
You can inspect previous loans, grants and donations statements for the organisation or branch you belong to. The inspection must take place during business hours.
Requests for inspecting an LGD statement can be emailed to [email protected].
